Kim
Hello, my name is Kimberly. I struggled with weight all my life. I decided to have lap band, because I was tired of being overweight. I struggled with several factors that led to having lap band. In 2004 I was in a car wreck that caused a disc deteriorating disease. I was told that if I did not loose the weight I would be in a wheel chair before I reached the age of 30. I was 25 at that time. I had high cholesterol, high blood pleasure, and I just became very LAZY. I didnt have energy to do anything. I have a 7 year old, and I could not play with her because I hated doing anything. Going into lap band I was 285 pounds, and I am one year out, and I weigh 165. I went into this knowing I was going to be successful, one way or the other, but at the same time I knew it would take lots of hard work and dedication. I eat very healthy now, and watch everything I eat. We all need a little push, and this was my push. Its not easy at all, but if you want to be healthy and happy you will reach this goal. I would do lap band a 100 times over, and would take all the pain over again. Lap band was the answer for me, and could be your answer as well.

I am 48 years old and have been overweight since the age of 7 and morbidly obese for most of my life. I had sleep apnea, shortness of breath, gastric reflux, and spinal degeneration with a history of 2 back surgeries, 2 neck surgeries, and knee and foot surgeries as a result of the excess weight. On October 7, 2005 I had RNY gastric bypass with a starting weight of 330 lbs. I lost a total of 185 lbs and maintain about 175 lbs weight loss. I no longer have sleep apnea, shortness of breath, and my bones are much healthier without the extra weight. Gastric bypass has allowed me to have a new and healthier life.

Weight loss: 85lbs
My highest weight was 228. I was wearing size 20/22. I have fought weight as long as I can remember and was never what I considered a slim person. I yo-yoed up and down with my weight for years and tried several diets several times: Weight Watchers, LA Weight loss, High Energy, Atkins, Low Carb, Low Fat, you name I tried it
.I even had my ears stapled
twice!
I was on medication for high blood pressure and cholesterol. I did not have any energy and was having issues with my feet due to the weight.
Originally I was interested in the lap-band, but upon realizing that I could still indulge in desserts without repercussion I changed to the gastric by-pass. I do enjoy the occasional sugar treat, but have learned that it is not worth feeling sick and yucky to over indulge and therefore it keeps me in check. This is a tool to help you make a lifestyle change. It is not an overnight cure for loving food. Once the initial weight loss is achieved and the honeymoon stage is over, it is still up to you to make the right food choices. I weight every day and stay within a few pounds of my weight goal. I try to exercise a few times a week to tone up and I take the recommended vitamins and supplements to stay healthy. I love having the energy to stay active and keep up with my grandchildren. (And shopping has become fun again!) It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made and I would do it again tomorrow without a second thought.
