Making The Choice
Hopefully you have already reviewed the types of weight loss surgery. If not, take the time to go back and study them (you can start here). If you have studied these procedures and feel like you have a preference, then you have made the next step. If you cant decide, dont worry. In either case, a consultation with the surgeon of your choice is needed to become even more fully educated on the risks and benefits of these procedures as well as provide more education on the process. In most cases, the patient may choose the operation they prefer. The surgeon is there to guide you and help to make sure the procedure will be right for you. If you are interested in learning more, you can contact us or sign up for a free seminar.
If you have already made your choice, and are ready to become more active in the process, then call us for a consultation (click here for office information and maps).
Making The Process Easier
There are several ways to make this process easier. First of all, there are guidelines we follow in making sure patients are candidates for weight loss surgery (see am I a candidate?). We will calculate your BMI but it will be helpful if you already have an idea of what it is (BMI calculator). We also need to know if you have medical problems (i.e. problems you take medications or treatments for such as blood pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol for example). It will also be helpful to know if you have had any major operations in the abdominal (stomach) area. There is also a fair amount of paperwork to fill out to help us better understand your medical history and problems. It will be easier for you and quicker (hopefully!) if you print this packet and fill it out when it is convenient for you. Download the packet here (NOTE link to downloadable packet)
You may also have questions before your visit. Here are some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). You may also want to view options for financing your operation.
